Everyone has to start someplace, & this page shows my own start in the crafting of bead work & macrame. This goes way back to my ancient times. I believe late 1960's to early 1970's. The piece in the middle with zig zags is a macrame bracelet using button & carpet thread. Yes, I said button & carpet thread. For those of you who are not familiar with that, its a type of sewing thread. It is very detailed. There is a safety macrame chain on it that you can see behind the bracelet, curling above it, and "peeking out." The black beaded piece is an ankle bracelt with a sterling silver moonface charm. Its made with a variety of glass beads. The Red & Turquoise Off-Loom Woven piece are glass beads I recycled (took apart) from a single strand necklace that was from India. I probably bought the strand in some Hippie Shop in the "Olden Days". The Turquoise Off-Loom piece is made of garnet, carnelian, and turquoise glass "E" beads. I must have recycled another necklace to get these beads. Years ago, there were no places to purchase beads to make things. You had to find old cast off jewelry, and take them apart to make your own designs. The bottom piece is a macrame bracelt made from waxed linen thread. It has chevron, ivory, and red glass beads. |
